Vashon World AIDS Day 2018

In 2018  Vashon Island, a small island community of 10,000 year-round residents in Washington State, commemorated World AIDS Day with four days of events.  The intent was to offer a variety of events and other activities to engage the community on the issue of AIDS. Each event of the four days had a unique approach to the subject.

One of the primary goals of the project was to involve young people as much as possible to bring awareness of the historical and cultural context of the early years of the epidemic and the role activism played in changing AIDS from a death sentence to a manageable disease.  A key theme in all events was the notion that one person can make a difference.
